NanjingTechs President QIAO Xu not only extended his warmest congratulations to all the graduate students in his congratulatory speech but also put forward three ardent expectations for the graduates. First, President QIAO hoped that the graduate students would have confidence and determination to do better. Young Chinese people in the new era should forge ahead, and what they need more is a sense of responsibility, less dependence, more patriotism, and less expediency. The graduate students must strive to be pioneers in, pacesetters for, and contributors to the country’s development, and their personal aspirations must be incorporated into the national rejuvenation. Second, President QIAO hoped that the graduate students would have a youthful spirit. Filled with amazing vibrancy and great passion, young people remain vigorous and energetic wherever they go. The good habit of lifelong learning, self-discipline and being organized should be developed, so that the accumulated potential can be stored while making the right choice that meets the call of our times. An optimistic attitude should be maintained to build on the good momentum in good times and to cleave waves and surge forward in bad times while injecting positive energy into the youth and pursuing the infinite possibilities of life. Third, President QIAO hoped that the graduate students would be the creators of a bright future. Recently, the world has witnessed a persistent and unchecked pandemic, and accelerating changes unseen in a century, with various global challenges on the rise, the achievement of high-level science and technology through self-reliance, and the development of controllable industrial systems. The new era presents young Chinese people with new requirements; faced with these requirements and in the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship of Nanjing Tech University, it is necessary for the graduate students to focus on the frontiers of science, technology, industry and management, to identify and solve practical problems, and to stimulate innovation potential and creative energy, in an effort to make a contribution to the country and the world.

Professor WU Shenghong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Tech University Committee, encouraged the graduates to contribute their wisdom and strength to the realization of the Second Centenary Goal and the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation. He wished the graduates to think big, look far, and make great achievements in their lives.
