On the afternoon of December 14th, the University Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs was held. Jin Shangjun, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government, Zhang Jun, Deputy Director of the Consular Office, Shi Yunyu, Director of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Department of Education, Rui Hongyan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Jiang Juncheng, President of the University, and Lu Weidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University attended the meeting. At the conference, Deputy Director Jin Shangjun analyzed and judged related work on the foreign affairs of the state and our province, and pointed out the direction and provided guidance for the foreign affairs work of our university from the aspects of improving the political position, carrying out foreign affairs work in accordance with laws and regulations, and practicing the concept of foreign affairs for the people. Director Shi Yunyu combined with the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, interpreted the key points and difficulties of foreign affairs work in colleges and universities in the next stage from the perspective of national development and higher education development, and provided in-depth and accurate guidance for our university to improve the level of foreign affairs work.
President Jiang Juncheng proposed in his speech that the whole university should focus on the key to the high-quality and high-end development of international cooperation work, and should be highly linked, establish a "one game of chess" thinking, unite the "one rope" joint force, adhere to "integration" promotion, and build a foreign affairs work community; Cultivate international top-notch talents, tap the "depth" of joint training of Chinese and foreign talents, increase the "strength" of the supply of high-quality educational resources, expand the "breadth" of excellent Chinese cultural dissemination, and adapt to the needs of national economic development; Gather overseas high-level elites, optimize the "mechanism" of talent introduction, seize the "opportunity" of talent return, give full play to the "function" of foreign experts, and help the construction of talent highlands; Carry out industry-university-research innovation cooperation, promote the formation of a more efficient collaborative model, promote the high-quality development of our university's cause with high-level international work, and serve the new pattern of Jiangsu's high-level of opening to the world.
Secretary Rui Hongyan pointed out in his speech that we must adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping’s diplomatic ideology, focus on the important arrangements and major strategies of the Party's and the country's foreign affairs work, fully promote the university's foreign affairs work, and effectively improve the university's internationalization level. He focused on raising ideological understanding and had a "big picture" in mind; grasp the key points of work and promote "major foreign affairs"; Consolidate leadership responsibilities, standardize foreign affairs work, etc., put forward requirements for University foreign affairs work, and coordinate the "five major functions" to improve and optimize the system and mechanism; Deeply cultivate the "foreign affairs of the university" and stimulate the entrepreneurial momentum of officers; Focusing on "international competence" and improving the international literacy of teachers and students, all schools and departments are required to study and promote foreign affairs work, improve the evaluation performance system of foreign affairs work, and contribute to accelerating the opening up of education in the new era and achieving high-quality connotative development.
Vice President Lu Weidong read the Decision on Commending the Advanced Collectives and Individuals of the Internationalization of Nanjing University of Technology in 2022, and the leaders attending the meeting presented awards. Nai Kang, Director of the International Office, and Wang Zhirong, Dean of the College of Overseas Education, gave special reports respectively, and the relevant responsible persons of representatives of advanced units exchanged foreign affairs work experience of the schools.
