Recently, Dr. Zhi-Liang Shen, a professor from School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Nanjing Tech University, was awarded the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award for 2022.
Since 1999, the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award is presented every year to promising researchers worldwide who are in the early stages of their independent academic career as assistant or junior professors. The awardees are selected exclusively by the editorial board members of internationally renowned journals of SYNTHESIS, SYNLETT, and SYNFACTS who constantly watch out for promising, young individuals working in chemical synthesis and catalysis or closely related areas of organic chemistry. The award aims recognize and encourage the new generation of organic chemists in their careers. In 2022, around 79 researchers worldwide have received this award. Being the recipient of this award means that the research works from Prof. Zhi-Liang Shen's group have already been recognized by international counterparts.
Prof. Zhi-Liang Shen joined School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering (IAS) at Nanjing Tech University in 2016. His research area focuses on the synthesis and application of organometallic reagents in organic synthesis, the development of green organic transformations in water and ionic liquid, as well as the synthesis of fluorine-containing heterocycles. Till now, Prof. Shen has published more than 70 papers in internationally peer-reviewed journals as first author or corresponding author, including Chemical Reviews, Chemical Society Reviews, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Chem, ACS Catalysis, Green Chemistry, Chemical Communications, and Organic Letters. In addition, he has applied for 15 patents, with three of them having already been approved.
