On the afternoon of November 29, 2021, the 3rd Sino-Spanish Research and Innovation Forum and 2021 New Materials and Nanotechnology Forum, organized by Nanjing Tech University, co-organized by University of Zaragoza and Research and Innovation of Aragon Government, was successfully held online and offline at Nanjing Tech University. Prof. Qiao Xu, President of NanjingTech, Prof. Niu Shengjie, Vice President of NanjingTech, Prof. Xing Weihong, Vice President of NanjingTech, Zhao Yangwei, Director of International Science and Technology Cooperation Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Enrique Navarro,Director of Research and Innovation of Aragon Government, Teresa Gálvez Jaques, Head of Science & Technology Development Foundation, Prof. Jose Antonio Murillo, President of University of Zaragoza, Prof. Rosa Bolea, Vice President of University of Zaragoza, Prof. Francisco Beltrán, Vice President of University of Zaragoza and nearly 100 representatives from both sides were invited to attend the forum. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Xing Weihong, Vice President of NanjingTech.
Prof. Qiao Xu, NanjingTech President, delivered a speech reviewing the cooperation between NanjingTech and University of Zaragoza and stressing that innovation-driven and openness and cooperation is the consistent development philosophy of Nanjing Tech. He expected the two universities to further stimulate the innovation potential of the advantageous disciplines against the backdrop of the global trend of science and technology innovation, focus on new materials and green technologies and other areas needed by society, so as to make greater contributions to the realization of carbon neutrality and green development.
Zhao Yangwei, Director of International Science and Technology Cooperation Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, pointed out in his speech that he hoped both sides would focus on Jiangsu’s industrial innovation development strategy, give full play to the advantages of Nanjing Tech’s university-industry-government cooperation and unite Jiangsu’s industrial sector. He said that the cooperation with University of Zaragoza in Chinese and foreign engineering application technology should be formed to carry out technology transfer, key technology research and industrialization cooperation.
Both Director Navarro and Prof. Murillo stated in their speeches that materials, biology and nanoscience are the common strengths of Nanjing Tech and University of Zaragoza, and that the Sino-Spanish Research and Innovation Forum is a crucial exchange platform, which will further promote scientific and technological cooperation and innovation between the two universities and even between Jiangsu and Aragon.
This year’s Sino-Spanish Research and Innovation Forum creates an innovative exchange platform for researchers from both countries to share cutting-edge achievements in science and technology, providing an opportunity for deepening scientific and technological cooperation and jointly promoting the two-way flow of scientific and technological innovation resources between the two countries. It also lays the foundation for deep and high-level bilateral cooperation and helps to build a high-level university.
