Prof. Xing is mainly engaged in the research of membrane materials and membrane processes, and has been in charge of more than 20 major projects sponsored by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars Program, the Key National Natural Science Foundation of China Program, the 863 Project, etc. She has received many honors and awards for her outstanding research achievements, including a Second Prize of State Technological Invention Award (ranked 2), and two Second Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 1 and 4). She has published more than 200 papers, including more than 80 SCI-indexed publications. She also applied for 78 invention patents in China (54 granted), 2 US patents and 3 PCT patents. She has been awarded as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Patent Inventors in Jiangsu Province, a Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution in Nanjing, an Advanced Individual in Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Science and Technology Innovation Personnel in Universities and Institutes in Jiangsu Province, an Outstanding Talent of “Six Talents Summit” in Jiangsu Province, a Distinguished Professor in Jiangsu Province, as well as some others. She has been selected as the New Century Excellent Talent in University Program, one of the Young Scientists of “333 High-level Talent Training Project” in Jiangsu Province, and the candidate for the National Bai-Qian-Wan Talent Program.

Prof. Xing is also the expert on the 12th Five-Year Plan National Science and Technology Major Project (High-Performance Membrane Materials), the Deputy Director of the National Technical Committee 382 on Separation Membrane of Standardization Administration of China, the Deputy Director of the Membrane Industry Association of China, the Deputy Director of the China Seawater Desalination and Water Reuse Society, the member of the Non-Homogeneous Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, and the editorial board member of Membrane Science and Technology.
