Prof. Lu is mainly engaged in the research of the theory and application of timber structure, seismic performance and vibration control of structures, and structural appraisal and enforcement. He has presided over national research projects such as the National Key R&D Program of China, the Sub-project of the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), Major Special Project of National Forestry Public Welfare Industry Research, National Natural Science Foundation of China Program, etc. He has edited one national standard, two national industry standards, and six technical regulations for construction projects in Jiangsu Province. He has also received many honors and awards for his outstanding research achievements, including two First Prizes and a  Second Prize of the Jiangsu Science and Technology Award, a First Prize of the Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Award, a First Prize of the National Green Building Innovation Award, a Second Prize of the China Award for Science and Technology in Construction, and one Special Prize, one First Prize and three Second Prizes of Jiangsu Province’s Teaching Achievements. He was selected as the middle-aged leading talent of the “333 High-Level Talent Training Project” in Jiangsu Province, and was sponsored by Jiangsu Province’s “Six Talent Summits”. He has been awarded the honorary title of National Pioneer Worker, Outstanding Teaching Team Leader of Jiangsu Qinglan Project, and Advanced Individual in Construction Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province.

He is also Vice Chairman of the International Green Building Association, a member of the Green Building Committee of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Executive Director of Jiangsu Civil Engineering & Architectural Society, and Chairman of the Bamboo and Wood Structure Committee of Jiangsu Civil Engineering &Architectural Society.
