From September 1985 to July 1988, Prof. Ling studied at Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology, majoring in chemical process machinery, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (skipped a grade and graduated one year earlier). From September 1988 to July 1991, he studied in Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology, majoring in chemical process machinery, and received a Master’s Degree in Engineering. From September 1999 to June 2002, he studied in Nanjing University of Chemical Technology, majoring in chemical process machinery, and received a Doctoral Degree in Engineering. He was promoted to professor in 2003.
He is mainly engaged in the research of high-efficiency heat utilization and energy saving technology, energy storage technology, new energy technology and structural integrity for equipment and pressurized equipment. He has presided over more than 20 national and provincial level research projects and issues, such as the National Science and Technology Support Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China Program, National Key R&D Program of China, the 863 Project, etc. He has also undertaken more than 200 transformation projects, such as the Jiangsu Transformation of Science and Technology Achievement Fund and other enterprise entrusted projects. Prof. LING has published more than 200 papers, including more than 100 SCI papers; he has granted 10 international patents (US and EU, etc.) as the first inventor, 69 Chinese invention patents, and more than 20 patent transfers and licenses, among which 1 patent won the Gold Award of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Patent, and 2 patents won the Excellent Patent Award of Jiangsu Province. He has garnered numerous honors and prizes for his research achievements, including Second Prize of the State Technological Invention Award (ranked 1), two Second Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 1 and 3), Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Li Foundation, National Innovation Award, two First Prizes of Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress (ranked 1), one First Prize of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation Technological Invention Award, and one First Prize of Science and Technology Progress (both ranked 1). Moreover, he has guided students to win one First Prize, two Second Prizes, and two Third Prizes in the “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competitions.
In 2005, Prof. Ling was awarded as “National Chemical Industry Excellent Science and Technology Worker”. The next year he was awarded as a candidate for “the New Century Excellent Talent in University Program” by the Ministry of Education. In 2008, he was awarded as a middle-aged leading talent of the Science and Technology Innovation Team of the Qinglan Project in Jiangsu Province and in the year following that he was selected as a member of the National Bai-Qian-Wan Talent Program. In 2010, he was selected as one of the “Six Talent Summits” in Jiangsu Province (Class A), and in 2012, he was selected as one of the 5th Top Ten Outstanding Patent Inventors in Jiangsu Province. He was selected as the first-level training object of the “333 High-Level Talent Training Project” in Jiangsu Province both in 2013 and 2016. Prof. Ling serves as Vice Chairman of the Chemical Machinery Committee of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, Vice Chairman of Heat Exchanger Committee of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Director of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Energy Research Society. He also sits on the editorial board of Energy Storage Science and Technology, Petrochemical Equipment, as well as other journals.
