JIANG Juncheng

Distinguished Professor
Prof. Dr. Jiang Juncheng is currently named President of Nanjing Tech University. He also serves as the Director of Key Laboratory of Chemical Process Safety Production of the National Ministry of Emergency Management, the Director of Key Laboratory of Chemical Process Safety Control of National Petroleum and Chemical Industry, and the Director of Key Laboratory of Inherent Safety and Control Technology of Hazardous Chemicals in Jiangsu Province.


In 1990, Prof. Jiang Juncheng graduated in Mine Ventilation and Safety from China University of Mining and Technology and received a Bachelor’s Degree. From 1990 to 1996, he obtained his Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree in Safety Technology and Engineering from China University of Mining and Technology. From 1996 to 1998, he obtained his Postdoctoral Degree from Central South University of Technology (Central South University). From 2000 to 2001, he was a visiting scholar at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

He is mainly engaged in research and education in the field of hazardous chemical safety, chemical process safety, new energy safety, urban public safety, and emergency technology and management. He has presided over more than 30 key projects of the Key National Natural Science Foundation of China Program, National Major Research Instruments Foundation Program, National Science and Technology Support Program, National Key R&D Program of China, and other provincial and ministerial level projects. The achievements, mainly made by Prof. Jiang, have won a Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, a Second Prize of National Excellent Teaching Material Award, six First Prizes and eight Second Prizes of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards, and five Provincial and Ministerial Teaching Achievement Awards. He has won the Zhao Yonghao Science and Technology Innovation Award (2019), the Innovation Award of Hou Depeng Chemical Science and Technology Award (2016), and the Achievement Award of Hou Depeng Chemical Science and Technology Award (2022). He has also published more than 400 papers as the first or corresponding author, 2 monographs and 8 teaching materials (editor-in-chief). Prof. Jiang has possessed 36 authorized invention patents in China and 2 international invention patents, and presided over and participated in the formulation of 7 technical standards, including national standards. He was selected as one of the Chief Scientists of “333 High-level Talent Training Project” in Jiangsu Province, the New Century Excellent Talent in University Program, the National Bai-Qian-Wan Talent Program, and was named as one of the national outstanding mid-aged experts, a national outstanding science and technology worker, and was awarded the special allowance of the State Council. He was elected a Fellow of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. His team has been selected as the Excellent Science and Technology Innovation Team in Jiangsu Province, the Excellent Science and Technology Innovation Team of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and the Science and Technology Innovation Team of Qinglan Project in Jiangsu Province.

Prof. Jiang has also played a leading role in numerous professional organizations. He serves as an expert of the National Expert Group on Safety Production, Deputy Director of the Steering Committee of Safety Discipline in Universities of the Ministry of Education, and Deputy Director of the Chemical Safety Sub-Technical Committee of the Standardization Administration. He is also the Executive Director of the China Occupational Safety and Health Association, the Director of the Jiangsu Safety Production Expert Committee, and the Vice President of the Jiangsu Chemical Industry Association. He is the editorial board member of CIESC Journal and China Safety Science Journal, and the chairman of several international conferences in his field.
