1 Overview
The College of Urban Construction was established in April 2015 according to the reform and adjustment of the college department system, which was formed by the cross integration of advantageous disciplines such as HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) Engineering of the former College of Urban Construction and Safety Engineering and Municipal Engineering of the former college of environment.
The college has two doctoral degree awarding points and two master's degree awarding points of " HVAC engineering" and "Municipal Engineering". Besides, the school has the authorized qualification of the professional engineering master degree of “Civil and Hydraulic engineering”.
There are two undergraduate majors, including “Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering” and “Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering”. Both majors were selected as national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, and both passed the professional evaluation (certification) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development in 2007, 2012 and 2017, respectively.
The college has 57 faculty members, including 44 full-time teachers, 1 doctoral supervisor, 27 master supervisors, 10 professors and 22 associate professors. More than 80% of full-time teachers have overseas study or cooperative research experience, all of whom have a graduate degree or above.
The college has distinct characteristics in the research directions of building energy conservation and green building, renewable energy utilization, building fire protection technology, water resources utilization technology and so on. It has many teaching, scientific research and talent training bases, such as Jiangsu green building engineering technology center, Jiangsu urban construction and safety engineering experimental teaching demonstration center, urban construction college testing center, and experimental training center. Teachers of the college have undertaken a large number of national, ministerial and provincial key scientific research projects, including the projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National key research and development program.
