Overview and Research Areas/Fields

The School of Energy Science and Engineering (SESE) is now a multidisciplinary school covering traditional and new energy technologies. Based on the Nanjing Tech University's (NJTech) discipline advantages of chemical engineering, chemistry, materials, and engineering thermophysics, SESE is one of the important academic units for cultivating the urgently-needed social talents in the energy field.

 

 

Eminent Professors

The existing staff in SESE is comprised of more than 60 people, including 50 full-time teachers. The teachers are both able and political integral, with noble virtues, good knowledge for education theory and high professional quality in energy. The full-time teachers with a Ph.D. are over 90%, and more than 65% of the staff own advanced academic titles. In addition, there are many high-level talents in the SESE including 3 second-level professors, 4 winners for the national important talent program, 3 winners for the important talent program in Jiangsu Province, 1 Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate Analytics), 1 winner of Fok Ying-Tong Young Teacher Award and Education Foundation for Young Teachers, 1 winner of Six Talent Peaks of Jiangsu Province, and 2 winners of 333 High-level Personnel Training Project of Jiangsu Province.

Departments & Institutions

There are 3 educational and teaching institutions (Energy Engineering Department, New Energy Science Department, and Energy Experimental Center) in SESE. It also has 5 research centers i.e. the National Research and Extension Center of Heat Pipe Technology, High-efficiency Industrial Energy-saving Equipment Engineering Technology Center of Jiangsu Province, Institute of Electrochemical Energy Storage, Institute of Thermal Energy Engineering, and Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioner.

 

Education Programs

In SESE, there are 4 undergraduate programs (Energy and Power Engineering, Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering, New Energy Materials and Devices, and Energy Storage Science and Engineering, 4 master conferrable spots (Chemistry, Energy and Power Engineering, Materials and Chemical Engineering, and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics), 5 doctor conferrable spots (Chemistry, Energy-saving Materials and Engineering, Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering, Thermal Engineering, and Thermal Physics Engineering), 2 one-degree courses (Chemistry, and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermal Physics), and 1 post-doctor mobile unit (Power Engineering and Engineering Thermal Physics).

 The SESE will continue with the pace of development of NJTech. It strives to implement the policy of "stable development of traditional energy, accelerated development of green energy" and improve the level of teaching and scientific research. The SESE will make contributions to the achievement of a high-level university and realize the “dual carbon” target (Carbon Emission Peak and Carbon Neutrality).
