On the afternoon of June 13, the Council Meeting of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zaragoza was successfully held in Conference Room 604 of Mingzheng Building, Nanjing Tech University. School leaders from Nanjing Tech University and the University of Zaragoza, the council members of Confucius Institute on both sides, and related personnel attended the meeting. This virtual meeting was presided over by Prof. Rafael de Miguel, Foreign Co-director of the Confucius Institute.

At the meeting, the Chinese and Foreign Co-directors of the Confucius Institute reported on the work of the Confucius Institute. The council members mainly discussed the future development of the Confucius Institute and other cooperation projects between the two universities and reached a consensus on organizing the 2022 Sino-Spanish Research and Innovation Forum, promoting the Sino-Spanish Cooperative Education and the EU Erasmus＋ Program.

In his speech, Prof. Jose Antonio Murillo, President of the University of Zaragoza, gave full affirmation to the active role played by the Confucius Institute in promoting cooperation between the two universities. He stressed that the Confucius Institute has witnessed the friendship between the two universities and hoped that it would continue to inject new vitality and impetus to the development of cooperation between the two universities.

Prof. QIAO Xu, President of Nanjing Tech University said that last week, the fifth-anniversary celebration of the Confucius Institute was successfully held, and Mr. WU Haitao, Chinese Ambassador in Spain, Javier Lambán, President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón Navarro, Mayor of Zaragoza, attended the event, witnessing the deep friendship between the two universities. Prof. QIAO pointed out that the two countries shared a traditional friendship, and the cooperation between the University of Zaragoza and NanjingTech in the fields of scientific research and sino-foreign joint educational program and dual award doctoral program is also advancing to a deeper level. He hoped that the Confucius Institute would continue to play an essential role as a bridge for cultural exchange, scientific research cooperation, and talent training between the two sides, strengthening the construction of “Confucius Institute for Science and Technology” and “Confucius Institute for Humanities”, and strive to become a global advanced Confucius Institute.
